Get in, girls—we’re going glamping!

Who says camping is just for the boys? When I purchased my Airstream travel trailer, I knew it would be the perfect setting for unforgettable girls' weekends. From cozy nights in to exploring new destinations, hosting a getaway in an RV brings all the charm of camping with a touch of luxury. Here’s how to plan the perfect girls' weekend glamping trip that’s sure to be a hit with your besties.

Some flowers and a charcuterie board on a picnic table.

Packing Essentials

Packing for a girls' trip is a bit different from packing for a regular camping adventure. We love to focus on shared experiences, great food, and a few treats to elevate the weekend. Here’s what we never leave behind:

Charcuterie Supplies

A variety of cheeses, cured meats, fruits, and crackers make for the perfect charcuterie board to share around the campfire.

Sweet Treats

Don’t forget the chocolate! Whether for s’mores or a late-night snack, it’s a must-have.

Fresh Flowers

On a recent trip, one of my friends, a flower farmer, brought along stunning dahlias. It was such a fun touch, making our Airstream feel extra pretty and adding a bit of beauty to the campsite.

Spa Supplies

After a day of adventuring, wind down with face masks and some girl talk. It’s a simple way to pamper yourselves and relax before bedtime.

Planning the Itinerary

For our recent girls' weekend, we headed to the beautiful Oregon Coast, known for its stunning scenery and charming small towns. Here’s a sample itinerary based on our trip that you can adapt for your own adventure:

Day 1: Arrive and Explore

  1. Set up camp at a local state park. We chose Nehalem Bay State Park for its great beach access and scenic views.
  2. Head over to Tillamook for a tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Stock up on your favorite cheeses for a charcuterie board to enjoy back at the campsite.
  3. If time allows, browse the quaint antique shops in nearby Manzanita.
  4. End the day with a sunset walk on the beach at Nehalem Bay. The soft dunes and expansive ocean views are the perfect way to unwind.

Day 2: Beach Town Adventures

  1. Start the day with a visit to Cannon Beach, home to the iconic Haystack Rock. Spend the morning exploring the tide pools and enjoying the beach views.
  2. Grab lunch at Mo’s Restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious seafood with an ocean view. If you’re still hitched to your tow vehicle, Cannon Beach has public parking lots with pull-through spots, making it easy to park your trailer.
  3. Head over to the quirky town of Seaside for a change of pace. Walk along the promenade, take a spin on the Seaside Carousel, or book a clamming or crabbing tour for a fun, hands-on experience.
  4. After a full day of exploring, return to the Airstream for a night of relaxation. Treat yourselves to face masks or gather around the fire for s’mores and stargazing.

Day 3: Hiking and Goodbyes

  1. If your group loves hiking, consider a visit to Ecola State Park. It offers a variety of trails with breathtaking views of the Pacific Coastline. Check out AllTrails for recommendations that fit your group’s skill level.
  2. Fuel up with lunch at Left Coast Siesta in Manzanita. Their massive burritos are a fan favorite and great for sharing.
  3. As you pack up and head home, consider making a detour to Astoria for one last adventure. Visit the historic Astoria Column or take a film location tour to see spots from movies like The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop.

Safety Tips for a Girls’ Glamping Trip

  1. Do Your Research

Look up the campground and read reviews before booking. Make sure it has the amenities and security you’re looking for.

  2. Plan Your Route

Use Google Maps to preview parking lots and ensure your Airstream will fit. This is especially helpful for navigating busy tourist areas.

  3. Stay Aware of Your Surroundings

Never open your door to strangers. If someone knocks, speak through a cracked window first to assess the situation.

  4. Share Your Itinerary

Let a loved one know your travel plans and consider sharing your live location via your phone.

  5. Invest in a Satellite Communicator

For areas with limited cell service, a satellite communicator can be a lifesaver in case of emergency.

  6. Keep Your RV Secure

Lock the door when you’re inside and take your keys when you leave the campsite.

  7. Download Offline Maps

It’s a good idea to have travel maps downloaded in case you lose cell service.

  8. Bring a Portable Power Station

This is a game-changer for keeping your devices charged, powering appliances, and topping off your RV batteries if needed.

  9. Arrive Before Dark

Setting up camp during daylight makes it easier to navigate the campsite and get settled.

  10. Delay Social Media Posts

Wait to share your location until after you’ve left the area to ensure your safety.

  11. Stay Weather Aware

Enable weather alerts on your phone. If you encounter high winds or severe weather while towing, take a break and wait it out safely.

  12. Trust Your Instincts

Your gut feeling is your best guide—if something doesn’t feel right, take action to stay safe.

Hosting a girls’ weekend in your RV is all about fun, connection, and creating unforgettable memories. Whether you’re relaxing by the fire or exploring new towns, these weekends are a wonderful way to bond with your friends and recharge. Gather your favorite ladies, hitch up the trailer, and get ready for an adventure you’ll talk about for years to come.

Happy trails, and may your glamping adventures be filled with laughter, love, and lots of s’mores!

Travel Trailers

Travel trailers are the most popular type of non-motorized RV. No doubt you’ve seen one pulled down the highway hitched to a car or pickup. Travel trailers come in all sizes including tiny jellybean-shaped models with a chuckwagon kitchen in the rear to the massive house-on-wheels with picture windows and a sliding glass patio door.
