Bailey and Nicole are an adventure-seeking couple from Florida who started their RV journey in 2021 as newbies. RV Camping at a NASCAR Race: A Complete Guide

Have you ever considered taking an RV trip to a NASCAR race? Every year, thousands of RVs roll into Speedway Motorsports Races around the country. Nicole and I recently spent a weekend RV camping at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Bank of America ROVAL 400—and it was everything we hoped for and more: thrilling action, fun people, endless activities, and campfire stories.

We had never been to a NASCAR race or RV camped at a Speedway before, but we quickly learned why this is such a popular RVing destination. One of my concerns had been camping options—are there hookups? Do I need a generator? Are there dump stations? Here’s a guide to the different camping options available at Speedway Motorsports Races.

Premium Full-Hookup Campground

Camping World Racing Resort

We stayed at the Camping World Racing Resort, which offers spacious back-in sites with full hookups, making it perfect for families and pets. It’s located furthest from the track, so the roaring engines are just a faint background noise. Campers here were incredibly welcoming—sharing stories by the campfire from fans who have been staying at this resort for over a decade. 

To get to the track, you can easily walk via walkway bridges or take a complimentary shuttle from the campground to the entrance gates.

Dry Camping for Tents & RVs

Geico Family Campground & Geico Turn 1 Camping

Located behind Turn 1 and Turn 4, these grassy campgrounds offer a classic Speedway experience with race sounds roaring over the outer walls into the fields on race day. This no-hookup option has water and dump services for a fee and nearby shower facilities.

Perfect for all RV types and tent camping, it’s close to general grandstands with shuttle services available.

Infield Camping

ROVAL Infield & Overlook Campground

For a true race weekend experience, infield camping is a must. With spots for RVs up to 45’, you’ll be immersed in the non-stop action, including family activities and a front-row seat to the roaring engines.

We experienced some of the fun during THOR’s Camper Appreciation Party on Saturday night on the infield. On race day, we saw fans on the roofs of their RVs experiencing the thundering engines up close and personal in the infield, sometimes only feet away from the track.

Infield camping is dry camping, so a generator or solar power is essential. Alternatively, the Overlook Campground offers premium sites overlooking the track, suitable for big rigs, with prices in the thousands for the weekend.

Our Experience

From the family-friendly Fan Zone to Track Side Live, concerts, and races, this was a weekend full of unforgettable entertainment and memories. If you’re looking for a unique RV trip, camping at a Speedway Motorsports Race is an experience you won’t forget.

This camping trailer affectionately nicknamed a “Fiver” is a favorite of many, especially those taking extended trips or traveling full time in their RV.
