Patty & Shane Gill
Meet the Gills
Shane and Patty spent 24 years traveling overseas while Shane served in the Air Force. After becoming empty nesters, they set their sights on exploring the U.S. In 2020, they hit the road to discover the beauty of their own backyard. Now in their fifth year of RVing, they've journeyed through 30 states and are continuing their adventure to visit all 50 states in their Jayco Eagle Fifth Wheel.
Describe your camping style
We are extended travelers who enjoy exploring as many destinations as we possibly can. We love boondocking, but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t also love a good campground! We take on Workamp jobs a few months of the year to help supplement our income and afford us the ability to travel as much as we do.

What is something that always lifts your spirits?
Anything that involves being outside: camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, you name it.

What is your preferred type of camping?
We would rather boondock than any other type of camping. We love to camp out in the middle of nowhere with no one around. The views are almost always more beautiful than an RV park. And as budget travelers, we love that boondocking is free!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever given or received?
We have been given this advice and we pass it on to others: Whether you are camping for a weekend or an extended trip, be sure to slow down, soak it all in and enjoy every bit of the adventure.

What is your travel philosophy?
Our philosophy is embracing the journey and savoring the experiences along the way. We love exploring National parks and soaking in the stunning views our country has to offer. The best part is enjoying the freedom that RV life gives us and making memories along the way

Patty & Shane's Top RV Destinations
Northern California
We’re suckers for dramatic landscapes. Mountainscapes, oceanic views, waterfalls—we really love to indulge in geological attractions. That’s why we love RVing in Northern California! Not only is it home to multiple National Parks, it also boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.
Alaska
Alaska is, hands down, the most beautiful place we’ve ever RVed or even visited. The landscape is just unbelievable and hard to put into words. We definitely recommend all RVers make a trip out there; RVing helps you soak everything in and enjoy the journey as well as the destination.
Idaho & Utah
Idaho and Utah are a tie for us and since they’re neighbors, we highly recommend a road trip between the two! The mix of mountainous landscapes, desert plateaus, and remote forests draw us in every time, so much so that we find it hard to leave!
